About the Event
French May Associated Projects 2021 RE:Imagination
Presented by The Arc
Flute music has a long-associated history with French composers. Many works stand as the core repertoire for flute. At the same time, piano plays a glamorous role to co-create the huge variety of colors. Hence, the Arc calls for your reimagination of the French soundworld.
The recital begins with the commonly-loved Faure Fantasie, featuring some idiosyncratic elements of French music. We then pair and contrast two classics sonatas written by Michel Blavet, a Baroque composer and traverso player, and a member of the Les Six Francis Poulenc. The third part features creativity and virtuosity in modern era compositions by Maresz and the flute legend Paul Taffanel. A pre-concert talk by Dr. Martin Lee will provide some extra content for music lovers to learn more about these composers and the selected repertoire.
Pre-Concert Talk: 28 May 2021 (Fri), 7:30-8:15pm
Concert: 28 May 2021 (Fri), 8:30-9:15pm
